C4 Review

posted by: Moriar on Sunday, March 19 @ 10:08 am

Michael Lafferty from GameZone has reviewed the latest Lineage 2 Chronicle! Lafferty goes through all of the changes that C4 brought and discusses them.

Here's an excerpt:
One of the nice touches, though, for younger players is that there are Adventurer's Guildsmen located throughout villages. These guildsmen have a list of available quests, broken down through class and levels. This makes finding quests much easier. While there are still not what one would call a plethora of quests to undertake - compared to other titles - there are numerous quests added across the level range.

The Grand Olympiad

posted by: phantomsloth on Thursday, March 2 @ 3:50 pm

A new pvp mode known as "The Grand Olympiad" is going live for Lineage 2. The competition pits characters in one on one battle in an arena, and to the winner goes the spoils. The competition is held to decide who the "hero" is for the server.

The Grand Olympiad is a one-on-one PvP competition held to determine the Hero. It is held in one month periods, and at the end of each period, the Noblesse with the most Olympiad points in each class is appointed Hero. Only Noblesse who have completed the third class transfer can participate in the Olympiad competition.

Competition Method

The Olympiad is classified into two competitions: the class competition and the non-class competition. Only members of a certain class can partake in class competitions. There are no class restrictions for participating in non-class competitions.

Participating in a competition is possible only through the Olympiad Master, and the hours of competition are 8:00 PM CST to 12:00 AM CST (8:00 PM GMT+1 to 12:00 AM GMT+1 on the Teon server). No competition requests are taken outside of competition hours.

Competitors will be matched randomly and summoned to the coliseum for competition. Instructions will be regularly provided through system messages, starting 30 seconds before being summoned to the coliseum. The summoned competitors are allotted 45 seconds of preparation time. The coliseum will then transform into a battlefield and the competition will begin.

Before the competition begins, HP, MP, and CP are all recovered and the pre-existing buffs and debuffs will be removed. Any summoned pets will be returned, but the servitors/cubics will accompany the player to the coliseum. The summoner's buffs will also dissolve before the start of the competition.

Once transported to the coliseum, if a character abnormally leaves the game, he will lose the competition. If the server goes down while a competition is in progress, the competition will be nullified and the competitors will restart at the villages.

The maximum competition time is 3 minutes, and the player whose HP drops to 0 first will lose. If no victor has emerged at the 3 minute mark, the character who has inflicted the most damage will be determined the winner.

During the competition, a character whose HP has reached 0 will merely lose the competition, but not die. Upon completion of the competition, the Olympiad point changes will be announced in a system message and the competitors will be returned to the village.

Community Interview with finelElf

posted by: Arnie on Thursday, February 9 @ 6:11 pm

We are proud to present to you an exclusive Lineage 2 LQGaming interview with the ever so famous finalElf, most notable for some of the best Lineage 2 PvP videos created to date.

: Is there history behind the name finalElf?

finalElf : I wanted a name that programmers could recognize. In the Java naming convention the first word of a variable starts with a lower case letter and each word after is uppercase (thisVarible). Final Fantasy has always been a favorite series of mine so I named myself finalElf as my first character was a dark elven fighter.

Test Server Madness

posted by: phantomsloth on Friday, February 3 @ 2:02 pm

Between February 6th and the 12th, players of the Lineage II test servers are in for a treat. The term "treat" should be used loosely though, as an interesting event is taking place. Between those days, a number of random monsters will "appear out of thin air" and attack at anytime. Along with the random attacks will come random appearances by GMs and possibly developers. Should be an interesting time:

The agents of chaos will once again be unleashed on the Public Test Server from February 6 through February 12. Expect the unexpected as monsters appear out of thin air, your favorite GMs drop by, and more. We appreciate all of the testing and reports our players have provided on the Public Test Server in preparation for Chronicle 4: Scions of Destiny!

We are currently planning on wiping the Public Test Server on February 13 once the chaos subsides.
