Sunday Maintenance Update

posted by: Berek-Halfhand on Sunday, June 4 @ 3:45 pm

We wanted to update you once again this Sunday about the guild hosting issues, considering it's been several days now that many of you are unable to access your sites.

First, I want to set the notion aside that there is any "problems" with our service beyond the hardware concerns. Your sites are safe, your guilds are safe, and you will be safe with us as a provider of guild hosting solutions for many months to come. That is why we're working so hard to bring this to a resolution, unfortunately it has once again taken longer in part due to our merger into the Zam Network and acquiring new hardware for the service.

That's right, we're looking at a complete upgrade to the service as a first step solution to the instabilities over the past several months. After this we'll be analyzing backup solutions and everything else, and will update you as these occur. We want you to stay in the loop as much as possible in part so you know we are moving forward.

For the immediate concerns I have some good news also. We have our main tech guy working as we speak and has been over the past couple of days to restore your sites to full working order. I called him myself and discussed where we are at with the restoration. I was hoping we'd have a resolution for you Friday or Saturday, but obviously that wasn't the case. I'll have to speak to our team to gets further updates. Stay tuned please, more updates to come...

GuildWizard Server Weekend Maintenance

posted by: Berek-Halfhand on Saturday, June 3 @ 6:06 am

Saturday Evening Update: If you are still having access troubles with your sites please reply here. It may be through this weekend until we get everyone's sites returned to normal. Due to the delay in being able to restore everyone's sites it is possible some of yours may experience a roleback. If this occurs, and we hope it won't, please e-mail us at guildsupport@lqgaming.com. We will work with you as much as we can to ensure the integrity of your websites.

As mentioned previously we're currently investigating new hardware solutions to prevent a similar reoccurance of this problem. We will keep you updated on this as well.

Saturning Morning Update: We wanted to update you again this Saturday morning to let you know that we're investigating new hardware solutions as this would appear to be a cause of some of what you've been experiencing over the past few months.

Please keep an eye on your sites today as we hope to have them fully operational. Some of your sites should already be back to normal, especially if you use dedicated forums. Once we obtain new hardware we will be sure to update you on this as well, as once this all comes together the first steps in ensuring a more stable platform than ever before will be apparent.

We will have more for you later in the day. Thank you for your patience. Please keep watch here at our guild hosting news site!

GuildWizard Server Maintenance

posted by: Berek-Halfhand on Thursday, June 1 @ 1:17 am

UPDATE 05/02/2006: We're still working to resolve the forum and login issues. It would be helpful if you could tell us if any of your members can access the login feature or if it is just isolated to the guild leader's account. For full guild communications in case you cannot use elements with your guild sites, please use our forum system and private messaging system or your own off-site solution for the meantime.

For all guild members dislocated from your guilds, we will return your sites to normal as soon as we can. Please use external IM, email, and our forums to keep in contact with your leaders. Thank you again for your patience.

UPDATE 05/01/2006: Sites are up at this time but forums are still being looked into, and some accounts do not have administration access. Please standby on these, although feel free to use everything else. If you need to, use our forums for guild communications in the meantime.

We're currently working on the server this evening. The service may go down for periods at a time, please be patient with this process. We will inform you here when the service is back up and running normally again.

Wednesday Walkthrough: Raid Management

posted by: Berek-Halfhand on Wednesday, May 31 @ 11:29 pm

We present to you in our Wednesday Walthrough series today a very special and important walkthrough in developing your GuildWizard guild site. This walkthrough will be enhanced and incorporated into our upcoming downloadable development guide. To view all our walkthroughs visit the current GuildWizard Development Guide.

Raid Management is one of the more valuable aspects of our guild hosting service. The most unique aspect about our system is that it is segmented into key sections, allowing you enhanced control over what you want to add to the system. This also gives you the ability to ignore complete section in case your guild doesn't raid but still would like to use a "guild bank" offline.

Many of you will recognize the system in its individual segments. Through this walkthrough we show you how to add and edit your raids through our system.

Be sure to check this walkthrough out thoroughly as there are many possibilities for managing items, encounters, and raids within your guild. If you have any questions about these walkthroughs or any others please e-mail us at: guildsupport@lqgaming.com.

LotRO Weekly Community Spotlight

posted by: Berek-Halfhand on Wednesday, May 31 @ 4:51 pm

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has restarted their weekly community spotlight feature! For all those LotRO guilds and fans you will be interested in this as the official site moderators point out important discussion threads throughout the week.

The Spotlight is an opportunity for us to show you our favorite threads each week, in case you missed them.

Carefully handpicked and considered, the following threads were chosen for a variety of reasons. Like the perfect grape in a really good glass of wine (or grape juice, if you're one of our younger users), good threads only help in making this community a wonderful blend-without all that gunk at the bottom of the bottle.

So, without further ado:

The petition for Google to change its logo to something iconic for J.R.R. Tolkien's birthday (on January 3rd) was just so neat we had to include it.

We will be highlight specific discussion threads each week for the LotRO Community Spotlight. If you have any other community spotlights you'd like to see posted here regularly, please let us know!

Funcom at Dragoncon

posted by: Berek-Halfhand on Tuesday, May 30 @ 8:23 pm

Funcom develops adventure games like The Longest Journey (one of my favorite adventure games), as well as the MMOs Anarchy Online and Age of Conan. On the Age of Conan's website Funcom has announced their attendance to this year's Dragoncon!

We are delighted to confirm that we will be attending the Dragoncon convention in Atlanta in September and will again be having a player gathering for people to come and meet us and chat about the game and join in on some competitions and fun!

There will be members of the development team there to answer your questions and join in the fun!

If you are attending and want to reserve a place at one of our evening gatherings please send an email to community@anarchyonline with the subject line "Dragoncon gathering" with your name and details. Space will be limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Dragoncon is a great convention and a whole lot of fun and we look forward to seeing you all there!

We support both Anarchy Online and Age of Conan here at GuildWizard LQGaming. If you are interested in attending Dragoncon with a group of fellow players, feel free to visit our forums and search for a guild or group of players interested in attending also.

GuildWizard Development Guide Additions

posted by: Berek-Halfhand on Tuesday, May 30 @ 6:18 pm

We're currently working on a downloadable version of our walkthrough system. This system is designed specifically for you to quickly and easily develop your guild sites to the standards you want them at without spending hours in guesswork on getting the right adjustments made.

While our service is quick and easy to get into right off the bat, we're hoping this guide will further the goal of bringing your sites to a new design level.

That is why today we're asking for your assistance in finishing our first version of the downloadable guide. If you have any suggestions on areas that you would like to see improved for walkthroughs or clarified because you found them difficult to understand, please e-mail us at: guildwizard@lqgaming.com. Any guide input that you give will be duely noted in our guide credits. You will also receive an additional 10mb of space for your guild site!

Weekly Discussion: Guilds, Kinships, Armies, Oh My

posted by: Berek-Halfhand on Monday, May 29 @ 3:42 pm

When I first looked into Lord of the Rings Online I was immediately corrected when I said "guilds" in their forums. According to the LotRO community it is "kinships". Several other MMOs will use different tags for describing their player communities.

What are some of your communities called and what do you like or perhaps dislike about them from other MMO communities? If you had a chance would you choose a different naming convention for your community, instead of "guild", "kinship", etc.?
